A Vintage Autumn Wedding at Tarureka Estate

There’s just something about an autumn wedding in the Wairarapa. The softer light, the cooler evenings, the changing leaves and all those warm, earthy colours that make everything feel a little bit more cosy.

This beautiful wedding at Tarureka Estate was exactly that.

Set amongst the gardens and old-world charm of Tarureka, the day had the loveliest vintage feel. Think thoughtful little details, soft autumn colours, beautiful florals and plenty of those in-between moments that make a wedding feel like you.

The vintage touches worked so well with the venue. Nothing felt overly styled or too perfect. It all had that relaxed, lived-in feel that I love photographing. There were so many little details to notice throughout the day, from the styling and table settings through to the personal touches that made the day theirs.

And then there was the autumn light. Honestly, it was dreamy.

Tarureka Estate is such a beautiful Wairarapa wedding venue for photos. There are gardens, old trees, gorgeous textures and plenty of little pockets to disappear off to for a few photos together. It gives you loads of variety without needing to travel anywhere.

For the hair, Kylie from Madison Lincoln in Greytown created a beautiful look that fitted perfectly with the vintage feel of the day. Soft, effortless and still feeling like her.

One of my favourite things about photographing weddings is capturing all the bits that happen around the big moments. The laughs while everyone is getting ready. The nervous excitement before the ceremony. Hugs from family. A quick hand squeeze. Your friends absolutely losing it on the dance floor.

Of course we get the beautiful portraits too, but it's those little moments in between that often end up being the photos you come back to years later.

And this day had plenty of them.
