So you’ve booked your session… Now what? If your upcoming photo shoot has you gnawing at your nails, read on for some tips to help you get prepared- and also ease your mind!

1. Choose the Right Time and Location: The Wairarapa region is full of beautiful locations that are perfect for family photos. Whether you want to take photos in a park, on the beach, or on your own section, there are plenty of options to choose from. Make sure to choose a location that suits your family's style and personality.

If you have something in mind, let me know. Otherwise, I’m happy to help you choose a beautiful spot.

Try to schedule your photoshoot for a time when the lighting is best. Hot tip- this is usually not the middle of the day. Try aim for close to sunrise or sunset. Golden hour is best.

2. Coordinate Your Outfits: When it comes to family photos, it's important to coordinate your outfits so that everyone looks great together. Choose a color scheme or theme that works well for your family, and make sure that everyone's outfits are comfortable and fit well. Avoid wearing anything too flashy or trendy, as these styles can quickly become outdated. Also, please avoid too many prints and large logos- these are super distracting in photos.

It’s very helpful to pick your outfits in advance, then lay them all out to see how they look together. This avoids any stress or rush the day of.

3. Plan Ahead: Before your photoshoot, make sure to plan ahead and think about what you want to capture in your photos. Do you want to focus on candid shots of your family having fun, or do you prefer more posed and formal photos? Let me know if there’s a shot you have your heart set on.

4. Relax and Have Fun: Finally, remember that family photos are supposed to be fun! Don't stress too much about getting the perfect shot, and try to relax and enjoy the moment. I will work with you to capture beautiful memories that you'll treasure for years to come.

Usually, the best images are the ones where you are just interacting with your family. That said, don’t stress if you don’t know how to do this on demand. I will always prompt you to get things going.

I look forward to making some memories with you!
